Boating With Your Valentine Is A Great Idea For Valentines Day

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, the time has come for gift planning. Perhaps you’d like to make the day extra special or give a truly memorable gift. You may be searching for a gift on a budget. Valentine boating provides a romantic option that lets you use your existing resources.

A Valentine boating excursion combines time in the great outdoors, exploring a body of water together, couple time and romance. If you both enjoy fishing or hiking, you can add these pursuits to the day. To make a day of it, pack a picnic lunch and a bottle of wine or a few import beers. If you’re not a cook, you can pick up ready made picnic meals at larger grocery stores. Pick up snacks like trail mix, a fruit or cheese tray, or crackers and dip to get you through the whole day.

Even if you don’t own a boat, you can

rent one. Many locations provide reasonable rents with minimum rental periods of two hours. You’ll also need a boat winch, an anchor winch and a boat trailer.

If you own a boat, check the condition of your boat winch, anchor winch and trailer before the big day. When you arrive at the perfect spot to launch, you want to suavely maneuver the boat into the water to impress your date. Similarly, you’ll want to smoothly drop anchor in a gentle area with an epic view of sunset. Unless your date owns their own fishing gear, bring extra.

While you’re probably an accomplished boater, if an all-day date is new territory for you, here are a few items to bring to show your preparedness and thoughtfulness:

  • sunscreen
  • a first aid kit
  • a picnic blanket
  • wine glasses (disposable works best for a picnic)
  • a sun umbrella
  • plates and utensils (disposable again)
  • a romantic card
  • a playlist of romantic music on your cell phone or mp3 player
  • a life jacket for each of you
  • a spare jacket, in case it gets chilly
  • a cap or hat for each of you.
Make sure you’ve fully charged your cell phone and pack a charger that works on the boat.
